So I’ve grown up in a family that is just a generation removed from conventional row cropping and still has some strong connections to it. This means I’m occasionally caught in a conversation with people who sympathize with conventional farmers or the farmers themselves.
As an assistant farm manager on an organic veg farm I obviously have some strong feelings toward their practices and occasionally tend to lean toward the assumption that they are ignorant of the damage their doing environmentally. Though it may occasionally be accurate, it doesn’t seem productive.
I’m wondering how others in our community approach these conversations and some of the complex dynamics that exist in the industry as a whole?
